With the amount of new cards being released each year in the
Pokémon Trading Card Game, keeping track of all the different full art Pokémon cards can get quite confusing. Full art Pokémon cards were first released in the Black & White era in 2011 and have appeared in every set since then, coming in all different forms. This really begs the question: what are full art Pokémon cards, and how many are currently in the Scarlet & Violet era of Pokémon?

What Are Full Art Pokémon Cards?
What is the difference between a Full Alternative Art Pokémon Card and a Full Art Pokémon Card?
Most players tend to get confused when it comes to the main difference between a full art alternate card and a full art card, but it is actually very simple. When talking about full art Pokémon cards, it just means that the art extends the entire card. As you can see below, this Japanese Blastoise from Scarlet & Violet 151 is a perfect example of a full art card.
When it comes to full alternative art Pokémon cards, which are also commonly referred to as
"Alt Art" in the Pokémon Company, the only difference is that you will see the art extending throughout the entire card, but also see the Pokémon in some kind of activity or environment interacting with other Pokémon or cards. A perfect example of an alternative art Pokémon card is this Japanese Snorlax from Scarlet & Violet 151. You can clearly see the difference between the two.

Are Full Art Pokémon Cards Going Away?
Most likely not anytime soon; they have been consistently printed since the Black & White Series, and there is no reason at this time that this rarity is going anywhere. The full art Pokémon rarity has changed over time, and the visual appearance slightly, but other than that, we are still going strong. In my own personal opinion, I hope full art Pokémon cards are here to stay; they really just feel awesome to pull and always look fantastic. Whether we can tell for sure if Pokémon full art cards are here to stay or not is uncertain, but looking at the consistent trend over time, it seems to be locked in as a permanent rarity because they are still being printed in 2024. So, let's hope these awesome cards keep coming out so we can all keep collecting these gems!
